Amy

My name is Amy Lynne Booth. On August 1, 2000, I was born again. I accepted Jesus Christ, Who had come to earth in the flesh for me some 2000 years before, as my Lord and my God.

Life before that was nothing special, I guess. I'm the youngest of six children by thirteen years, and so was raised almost as an only child. Mom took me to church from day one. She told me when I was little, that she took my playpen to church with her! I guess services were pretty long. When I was five, I told the pastor of my huge Baptist church that I wanted to be saved. He asked me a couple of questions, then baptized me. I got wet, but that was about all.

From the age 12 on, I went to Christian school. The kids I attended school with were regular kids, not too different than those who went to public school. The teachers weren't much different, either. Our valedictorian became a young, unwed mother. This didn't impress me much with Christianity, and I began drifting away from my upbringing.

In 1988, my Mom and Dad and I moved out to Southern California, and I moved even further from God. He was still there, but I wasn't interested. I got my first job, working at a factory, quit that and went to college. Two years after that, in 1990, Dad died, and Mom and I moved to New Hampshire to live with one of my brothers. In a drunken rage, he threw me out of his house one night. The next day, Mom and I moved back to California.

The next fall, I went back to school, this time to a Christian college. I met some Christian friends and became very angry at God over my Dad's death. I shook my fist at Him, asking "Why?" I received no answer, and soon after got into the New Age movement, channelling, etc. It seemed like I got the answers there that I didn't get from God. Mom kept praying for me and going to church.

In 1992, I learned that Mom had lung cancer: inoperable, incurable. My anger at God grew. After about a year, Mom died, and part of me did, too. I asked God to take me home to be with my Mom. I thank Him now that He didn't, because I wouldn't have been with Him or Mom.

In 1997, I moved back home to the Midwest, settling in Kentucky. One of the very first things I did was look for a church, but was unable to find one. I went to work as a preschool teacher's aide, and found myself partnered with a Christian. She and I began debating over our lunch hour about the doctrine of eternal security. I had always been taught, "once saved, always saved". She didn't believe this, and the more we talked, the more incensed I became! A Christian's job on earth is to lead others to salvation in Christ, not to worry about whether he/she is saved! My arguments lacked something, though, since I still was not born again myself!

In 2000, I was led to Christ while on duty as a store detective at a major retailer. Life changed completely. My desires changed. I got a completely new heart. The enthusiasm, which God had gifted me with since birth, was channelled towards something new - leading others to Him!

God gave me a burden. Brothers and Sisters, we are standing on a road watching people driving toward a cliff. We have the opportunity to stop them and tell them that they are heading for certain death. They need to know there is only ONE WAY to Heaven! Jesus said, "I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE. NO MAN COMES TO THE FATHER BUT BY ME!"  Without Jesus, there is NO HOPE! If we do not stop them, if we do not obey our command, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel..." their blood is on our hands. God says that everyone will have the opportunity to accept or reject Him. I believe this wholeheartedly. I also believe that God wants to bless His children by allowing them the privilege of sowing a seed in someone's life. Yes, someone else may water, God will give the increase, but none of that can happen if we do not sow the seed first!

It's almost time to go home! If you don't believe that, look at the headlines. "Look up, your redemption draws nigh!" The 'time of the Gentiles' on earth is almost over. Are you ready?

I'll see you soon. Feel free to write!
